We currently have a shortage of male chaperones for the upcoming marching band season. If you are interested in volunteering as a chaperone and fit the chromosome requirements please contact Mike Booth at mikeboothgm@gmail.com.  Chaperone volunteering opportunities for everyone else will open up in June.

The 2016-2017 Lafayette Band Banquet and Honors Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, April 30th at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (150 East High Street). We will celebrate another awesome year of Lafayette Band, bid farewell and pay special tribute to our seniors, and recognize the underclassmen with their well-earned “letters and bars”.

This year, our banquet is being sponsored and catered by Qdoba. We truly appreciate their generous support of the Lafayette Band and this event.

We invite all Lafayette Band families to the lunch that includes: Your choice of entrée, dessert and beverage for only $8.00 per person. Our graduating seniors will be our guests for this event and are invited to attend free of charge, compliments of the Lafayette Band Association.

Check-in begins at 1:00 p.m., with lunch served shortly after check-in.

We will need servers to help with the banquet meal provided by Qdoba on Sunday.  Servers will need to enter through the west side of Calvary Baptist Church Activity Center.  Anyone available to serve should email Jane DeRossett at fullpantry@hotmail.com

Graduation on Wednesday, May 24

 

FCPS has set the May graduation dates and Lafayette High School will graduate on Wednesday, May 24 at 4:00pm. The 2017/2018 Wind Symphony will perform at Graduation.

May 16 – Graduation Rehearsal from 3:45 to 5:00pm
May 18 – Graduation rehearsal from 3:45 to 5:00pm
May 24 – Lafayette Graduation at 4:00pm at Rupp Arena. Transportation to Rupp Arena will not be provided.  An itinerary will be provided in a few weeks.

 

Spring Flowers and Sweet Treats Fundraiser

 

  • Students – please double-check the quantity and pricing of each item before you deliver to the customer to ensure you collect the correct payment.  There were some math errors on the order forms.
  • Checks should be made payable to “LBA”.
  • Payments collected need to be returned immediately! 

The “In Lieu Of” Payment Option of $50 is still an option and will be collected through April.

$10,000 Spring Raffle

Keep selling those raffle tickets!  We have had a few more students turn in raffle tickets.  We hope everyone is getting close to selling 25 tickets.  Remember – the drawing for students will increase as the total number of tickets sold increases!  The amount you could win is up to you!!

 

The money raised is absolutely necessary for the band to continue to succeed.  Please do your part to help and sell at least 25 tickets.

 

Melena Dailey will be in the band room after school this Friday (April 21) to collect your raffle tickets and money.  Please remember to return the small portion of the tickets sold to be entered into the raffle drawing along with the money. GO BAND!!

Order Memory Books and Band DVDs

Download Form

Pre-order your 2016-17 “Vox Populi” Memory Book and DVD now by downloading the order form.  The Memory Book is designed by photographer and band parent, Michelle Dunlap and includes 60 glossy, color pages.  The DVD is produced by Jim Davis and our Media Crew and will include marching band and concert performances for the year. The Memory Book and DVD will cost $20 each or the cost for both items is $35. Lafayette Band Color Guard Spring and Summer Training

 

Congratulations to the students selected for the Lafayette Band Color Guard!  Below is the spring and summer training schedule:

·         Monday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:30pm  (April 17, April 24, May 1, May 8)

·         Mini-camp on May 12 and 13 (5:30pm-8:30pm and 9:00am-noon)

·         Mini-camp on June 9 and 10 (5:30pm-8:30pm and 9:00am-noon)

·         Mini-camp on July 7 and 8 (5:30pm-8:30pm and 9:00am-noon)

·         Color Guard Camp July 24-28, July 31-August 4, and August 7-11

 

Audition Music Available

 

Auditions for the 2017-2018 Lafayette Band are scheduled for April 25 – April 27 in the Lafayette music suite.  All students (new and current) must audition for placement in one of three concert bands and for part selection in the marching band.

Woodwinds:  Tuesday, April 25 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Percussion:  Wednesday, April 26 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Brass:  Thursday, April 27 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm

2017-2018 Materials Mailed

 

All families should have received a set of materials in the mail for the 2017-2018 band year.  The materials include:

  • 2017-2018 Payment Agreement (orange paper) – to have been returned by March 15
  • LBA Membership Registration Form (blue paper) – required to volunteer with LBA
  • LBA Parent Volunteer Form (green paper)
  • Medical Authorization Form (yellow paper) – Mandatory for all students to participate
  • Over-the-Counter Medication Authorization Form (cream paper) – Must be signed by a physician and parent in order for student to receive OTC medications.

Please complete and return these materials to the address provided on each form.  Or watch the e-News for collection dates during the spring mini camps.

Family Payments Matter for Every Student

 

As we begin planning for the 2017-18 band year, all LBA families need to understand that the family payments form the backbone of the band budget and all activities.  Fundraising and Bingo are important but they cannot replace the funds provided by the family payments. 

It is important that every family be responsible and meet its financial obligations.  The lack of family payments this past year has resulted in difficult situations for our musical instructors – we are not able to make timely payments and several have left to find employment elsewhere.  This has a negative impact on the musical instruction provided by Lafayette and our students’ growth as musicians.

The unpaid expenses from this year will carry-forward into the budget for the 2017-18 year.  Family Payments matter!  For our students to have the best possible band and musical experience at Lafayette, families must meet their basic financial obligation.  If needed, please contact Mr. Smith at 859-396-3311 or chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us for a confidential conversation about a payment arrangement – he is more than willing to work with you and your circumstances.

Setup Instructions

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT BINGO ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY.

Each family is asked to volunteer 12 times per year to maintain this fundraiser.

The Bingo Hall is located in the Keithshire Shopping Center on the corner of Clays Mill Rd and Keithshire (behind Burger King)

Charms Database

 

The Lafayette Band uses Charms, a web-based organizational software system to track student contact information, financial statements, email communication, and more. 

To log into Charms, go to www.charmsoffice.com.  Click “Enter” on the top menu and click “Parents/Students/Members” on the dropdown list.  Login using the school code “lhsband” and enter your student ID/password.  If you need your student ID, please contact Liz Booth at lafayettebandaccounts@gmail.com. The student ID is assigned by Charms and is a combination of letters and numbers. 

If your student has an outstanding balance, you will receive a monthly financial statement.  The monthly payments will be billed individually in the Fixed Payment ledger.  Amounts received that are less than the billed fixed payment amount will be temporarily stored in the Miscellaneous ledger.  When the amount in the Miscellaneous ledger is sufficient to pay a monthly payments, we can transfer the amount to the appropriate fixed payment. 

Band payments may be paid by cash, check, credit card or money order.  Checks and money orders should be made payable to “LBA” (please note the student’s name) and mail to:
