Churchill Downs Fundraising

 

Thanks to Brandan Gravitt, Jennie Hayes, Lee Ann Myers, Dan Prevette, and Melena & John Dailey for working opening day at Churchill Downs on the 28th. It was a beautiful day and a great way to make money for the Band. To quote Jennie, “It was the most entertaining fundraiser I have ever participated in!” We have another small group going on Derby Day. Thanks to everyone who is helping out!

Download the Raffle Info. Keep selling those tickets! All sold ticket stubs and money (along with unsold tickets) must be returned no later than Monday, May 7. Here are the collection times:

Thursday, May 3: 3:15-3:45 after school in Band Room
Sunday, May 6: Honors Ceremony at Calvary Baptist Church (starts at 2pm)
FINAL DAY – Monday, May 7: 3:15-3:45 after school in Band Room

For every 25 raffle tickets sold, a student will receive a FREE MOVIE PASS TO CINEMARK! One winner of the “3,000 Shopping Spree Raffle” will receive a $1,000 Cash + $1,000 Amazon Gift Card + $1,000 Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass Gift Card in Simpsonville. Raffle tickets are $10 each. Each band member is asked to sell 25 raffle tickets. The drawing will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 13 at the Spring Concert in Beeler Auditorium. Questions or need more raffle tickets? Memory Book

The 2017-2018 Lafayette Band Memory Book is designed by photographer and band parent, Michelle Dunlap.  Each book includes 60 glossy, color pages of memories of the State Championship season from Band Camp to Papa John’s Stadium! Each Memory Book costs $25.

2017-2018 DVD

The 2017-2018 Lafayette Band DVD includes band performances and highlights from the entire year.  The DVD is being created by the LBA Media Crew and will include marching band contest performances as well as concert events for the year (please note due to copyright restrictions that State Finals is not included on this DVD). Each DVD costs $15.

Save $5 and buy both the Memory Book and DVD for $35.

The 2017-2018 Lafayette Band Honors Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (150 East High Street). We will celebrate another awesome year of Lafayette Band, bid farewell and pay special tribute to our seniors, and recognize the underclassmen with their well-earned “letters and bars”.

All Lafayette Band families are invited to the event that includes choice of dessert and beverage for only $7.00 per person. This covers the cost of the food, ceremony, and awards.  Our graduating seniors will be our guests for this event and are invited to attend free of charge, compliments of the Lafayette Band Association.

Check-in begins at 1:50 p.m., with desserts served shortly after check-in.

Please register if you plan on attending. Registration will close midnight Friday, May 4th.

The Lafayette Music department is planning a group scholarship recognition program on Wednesday, May 16 after school.

This event is for music students that have received scholarships to major or minor in music or those who will receive a TALENT-BASED (audition) scholarship to participate in music activities but major in another field.

To-Do List from Your Chaperone Team

 

Now is the time to plan ahead and complete all your medical forms for the upcoming marching season.

1.       Complete the LBA Medical Authorization Form and mail it to the address on the bottom of the form. You must submit this form BEFORE band camp so we can properly treat your child if a medical condition arises. (If you have already turned in your form – Thank You!)

2.       Make an appointment with your child’s physician for a physical. Have the physician complete and sign a KHSAA Physical Form AND the LBA Over the Counter Medical Authorization Form if you so desire. These forms do NOT need to be completed and returned prior to band camp. You will need to bring in blank forms for the physician to complete and sign.

To receive your Early Payment Discount you must have your Family Payments paid in full by May 15, 2018.

It takes tremendous financial resources to keep The Pride of the Bluegrass at championship level on the field and in the concert hall.  We thank each family for adhering to their payment schedule.

If your student qualifies for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program, please supply a copy of the Notice of Approval received from the Child Nutrition Office.  LBA must receive this notification each year.
