Win a $15 Gift Card by Turning in Your Medical Authorization

Between May 1 and May 13 every student turning in a completed and signed Medical Authorization Form will be entered to win one of two $15 gift cards of their choice. It takes at most five minutes to complete the form but it is critical that every student has a form on file with the band.

The Medical Authorization form is the yellow form you received in your packet or you can click here to download the form.

Mail the complete and signed form to: Lafayette Band Association PO Box 910450 Lexington, KY 40591, give to Mr. Bishop, or place in the black box in the band room.

Contact Mike Booth at mikeboothgm@gmail.com if you have questions.

Save the Date:  Restaurant Day at Puccini’s on Monday, May 15

Save the date and plan to eat at Puccini’s Restaurant on Monday, May 15!  Puccini’s will donate 20% of sales to the Lafayette Band for dine-in and carry-out all day.  The offer is good at all three Lexington locations.  Enjoy some great Italian food and support the band!

B-I-N-G-O:  Volunteers Needed for Skilled Positions

Download Skilled Positions

Bingo is a year-round fundraiser and we need the participation of every Lafayette Band Family!  The financial success of Bingo depends on parent volunteers. Several pull tab sellers are needed every Tuesday and Thursday – the bingo patrons want to give us their money by purchasing pull tabs!  (And the more volunteers we have makes it easier and more fun for all!)

In addition, we need to fill several “trained” positions (sell paper, sell computers, caller, payout, and back room). These positions are necessary to operate Bingo and there are several openings due to graduating parents.  This is a great opportunity to become involved and support the band! Click here for more information about each of these positions.

We ask that each family volunteer 12 times per year at Bingo.  Please find a Tuesday or Thursday this month and come to the Bingo Hall in Keithshire Shopping Center at 6:00 pm.  You will meet some great parents and support the band’s fundraising efforts.

Thank You to the Bingo Volunteers

Many, many thanks to the following families who volunteered at Bingo at least 10 times since June 2016.  We truly appreciate your commitment to this fundraiser!

Family Payments Matter for Every Student

As we plan for the 2017-18 band year, all LBA families need to understand that the family payments form the backbone of the band budget and all activities.  Fundraising and Bingo are important but they cannot replace the funds provided by the family payments.

It is important that every family be responsible and meet its financial obligations.  The lack of family payments this past year has resulted in difficult situations for our musical instructors – we are not able to make timely payments and several have left to find employment elsewhere.  This has a negative impact on the musical instruction provided by Lafayette and our students’ growth as musicians.

The unpaid expenses from this year will carry-forward into the budget for the 2017-18 year.  Family Payments matter!  For our students to have the best possible band and musical experience at Lafayette, families must meet their basic financial obligation.  If needed, please contact Mr. Smith at 859-396-3311 or chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us for a confidential conversation about a payment arrangement – he is more than willing to work with you and your circumstances.

Let’s finish this year strong – both musically and financially!

To log into Charms, go to www.charmsoffice.com.  Click “Enter” on the top menu and click “Parents/Students/Members” on the dropdown list.  Login using the school code “lhsband” and enter your student ID/password.  If you need your student ID, please contact Liz Booth at lafayettebandaccounts@gmail.com. The student ID is assigned by Charms and is a combination of letters and numbers.
