Chaperone Crew

We currently have a shortage of male chaperones for the upcoming marching band season. If you are interested in volunteering as a chaperone and fit the chromosome requirements please contact Mike Booth at mikeboothg@gmail.com.  Chaperone volunteering opportunities for everyone else will open up in June.

First Time Marchers Camp

The First Time Marchers Camp is for current 8th graders or students marching with Lafayette for the first time.

Monday, April 10 – Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Wear tennis shoes and socks – you will be marching outside.  No sandals or flip/flops!

For new parents – LBA Board Members will be in the parking lot during the last 30 minutes of each rehearsal to welcome you and answer questions about the Lafayette Band.  This is a great time to return the payment agreement and medical forms.

LBA Parent Meeting on Monday, April 10

Please join us for the April LBA Parent Meeting at 7:00pm in the Lafayette Cafeteria (during the First Time Marchers Camp). This is the easiest way to be involved in your child’s band experience. Meet parents of your student’s peers and find out what’s going on now and what lies ahead for the Lafayette Band. LBA Parent meetings are open to current band families and families with incoming students this fall.  Discover how you can use your time and talents to get involved.

The election for the 2017-2018 LBA Board of Directors will be at the Monday LBA Parent Meeting.  The nominees (click here to download) for the 2017-2018 Board of Directors were presented at the March 13 LBA Parent Meeting

Fundraising Committee

The fundraising committee will be meeting briefly after the LBA Parent Meeting on Monday, April 10th.  Please consider staying around to find out how we can improve the financial state of the band.  Our goal is to decrease the number of fundraising activities while increasing the profits.  We know we can succeed with your help!  If you have any questions, please contact John and Melena Dailey at dailey1997@yahoo.com.

$10,000 Spring Raffle

Download the Handout

Keep selling those raffle tickets!  We have had 7 students sell all 25 tickets prior to Spring Break—and one student has already sold 50!!  If they can do it, so can you!  Once you sell your first 15 tickets, your name will be entered in the drawing for $100.  Each 10 tickets sold after that will earn you another entry.  As the overall number of tickets sold increases, the drawing will go up in value—the amount you could win is up to you!  Also remember, the money raised is absolutely necessary for the band to continue to succeed.  Please do your part to help and sell at least 25 tickets.

Beginning Friday, April 14th, Melena Dailey will be in the band room after school each Friday to collect your raffle tickets and money.  Please remember to return the small portion of the tickets sold along with the money. GO BAND!!

Family Payments Matter for Every Student

As we begin planning for the 2017-18 band year, all LBA families need to understand that the family payments form the backbone of the band budget and all activities.  Fundraising and Bingo are important but they cannot replace the funds provided by the family payments.

It is important that every family be responsible and meet its financial obligations.  The lack of family payments this past year has resulted in difficult situations for our musical instructors – we are not able to make timely payments and several have left to find employment elsewhere.  This has a negative impact on the musical instruction provided by Lafayette and our students’ growth as musicians.

The unpaid expenses from this year will carry-forward into the budget for the 2017-18 year.  Family Payments matter!  For our students to have the best possible band and musical experience at Lafayette, families must meet their basic financial obligation.  If needed, please contact Mr. Smith at 859-396-3311 or chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us for a confidential conversation about a payment arrangement – he is more than willing to work with you and your circumstances.

Let’s finish this year strong – both musically and financially!

Charms Database

The Lafayette Band uses Charms, a web-based organizational software system to track student contact information, financial statements, email communication, and more.

To log into Charms, go to www.charmsoffice.com.  Click “Enter” on the top menu and click “Parents/Students/Members” on the dropdown list.  Login using the school code “lhsband” and enter your student ID/password.  If you need your student ID, please contact Liz Booth at lafayettebandaccounts@gmail.com. The student ID is assigned by Charms and is a combination of letters and numbers.

If your student has an outstanding balance, you will receive a monthly financial statement.  The monthly payments will be billed individually in the Fixed Payment ledger.  Amounts received that are less than the billed fixed payment amount will be temporarily stored in the Miscellaneous ledger.  When the amount in the Miscellaneous ledger is sufficient to pay a monthly payments, we can transfer the amount to the appropriate fixed payment.

Band payments may be paid by cash, check, credit card or money order.  Checks and money orders should be made payable to “LBA” (please note the student’s name) and mail to:
