Calendar Notes

 

Water Jugs – Don’t forget to bring your water jugs to rehearsal this week.

M2 Lessons are ongoing.  Check the schedule for your time slot.  See section below for payment instructions.

LBA Name Badges –  See Janet Jones in the parking lot after rehearsal on Monday or Tuesday to pick-up you name badge if you requested on when joining the LBA.  She will be set up by the band field at 5:15pm each day.

Invitational Lanyards – If you still have your volunteer lanyard, please turn it in to the blue building. We need them for next year. Thank you!

 

Mini-Camp During Fall Break

 

All students are expected to attend the mini-camp during Fall Break this week.

·         Wednesday, October 5 from 3:45pm – 8:00pm     Dinner provided

·         Thursday, October 5 from 9:00am – 5:00pm          Lunch on your own – Bring lunch

·         Friday, October 6 from 9:00am – 5:00pm               Dinner provided – Lunch on your own – Bring lunch

W. Dale Warren will be here and dinner will be provided on Wednesday and Friday.

 

Food Crew Update for Mini-Camp

 

The Food Crew will be serving Dinner on Wednesday and Friday during the mini camp.  The students need to bring their own lunch on Thursday and Friday. 

LBA will be providing drinks and cookies for all meals.

Popcorn, Cheese, Sausage & Chocolate products MUST BE PICKED UP on Thursday at 5:00 at Mini-Camp Dismissal in the Cafeteria. We do not have room to store/refrigerate items – everyone must pick up their order on Thursday!

-All products should be delivered and money collected between October 5 and October 8. CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO “LBA”. Money should be turned in during the week of October 9. Look in next week’s e-News for specific times that you can turn in money.

-Remember, Cheese & Sausage products must be refrigerated until delivered.

-Help is needed to distribute orders on Thursday. If you can help between 4:30 and 5:30 on Thursday, please email LBAfundraising1@gmail.com.

Pictures are now available for purchase! Go to www.shellshots.smugmug.com to order individual, sectional, and Wind Symphony pictures. Several options are available. You can download a digital copy of each picture for only $8. There are also options to order printed pictures to be mailed to you (cost varies by size and shipping starts at $3.99 for all mailed pictures). Keepsakes such as mugs, magnets, phone cases, and more are available for online purchase (shipping costs apply). To download or order printed pictures and merchandise:

Photo Buttons for Sale – Order by October 13th

ORDERS ACCEPTED THROUGH OCTOBER 13

For new band parents, you may have seen photo buttons being worn on lanyards. It’s a great way to support your band student and LBA. Each 3.5-inch Photo Button is $8. You can choose your photo from the online Lafayette Band pictures at www.shellshots.smugmug.com. Choose ‘Marching Band’ and password is Raven. Please note the photo name/number of the picture you would like for your Photo Button and complete the FORM. Make sure you fill out everything on the FORM and give to Melena or John Dailey with cash or check (payable to LBA). Forms can be dropped off on Friday at the Band Store. Orders already placed will also be ready for pick-up on Friday.

 

GattiTown After Friday Night Football Game

After Friday night’s football game, all band members are invited to GattiTown for their salad & pizza buffet and to watch the half-time performance on the big screen! Cost is $6 for students and $7 for adults. Click HERE for flyer.

Ordering SMBC Tickets

 

If you missed out on ordering tickets in the Lafayette block ticket order for the State Marching Band Contest, below is information from the KMEA.org website on how to purchase tickets now.

Ticket Sales – Advance sales for 2017 are open. Special ticket order line: 859-408-8247 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM weekdays.

Regional Quarterfinals tickets: $12.00, available onsite only.
Semi-Finals/Finals tickets available in advance or onsite.

·         General admission tickets to Semifinals are $12.00

·         All Finals tickets are Reserved Seating, either $15.00 or $25.00.

·         Children age six and under will be admitted free, but will not be given a ticket. For Finals (reserved seating) children who are admitted free may have to be held by adults.

·         Semifinals and Finals tickets will be available for purchase on-site the day of the event.

·         Finals tickets unless bought in advance will be available at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium only (see below)

·         Gates open one hour prior to the first band’s performance.

Finals tickets will be for sale at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium starting at 10:00 am Saturday, October 28.

Tickets at the site are available for cash only.

 

Notes of Encouragement

 

This optional activity and long-standing tradition was started many years ago by a band mom to show the Band and Staff our love and support during this busiest time of the competition season.  This activity is not sanctioned by the LBA.  Anyone may choose to participate and write notes of encouragement for a specific section (e.g., trombones, color guard, etc.) to be distributed to students on the bus as they travel to KMEA competition on October 27.  The maximum number of notes assigned will be 10.

Review the sections below and email your choice to Casie Clements at LBAPresident1@gmail.com.  Casie will then send you a list of students and a sample note.

Notes must be returned no later than Friday, October 20.  Watch e-News for collection dates/times.  Notes can be returned to Cindy Haggan or Casie Clements.

Tips for Note Preparation:

·         Short, hand-written, anonymous note of support and encouragement!  Notes are not intended to suggest or emphasize winning.

·         Decorate paper with stickers, use scrapbook paper with music symbols, or whatever you choose.

·         Add your special touch!

Sections:  Baritones, Clarinets, Color Guard, Drum Majors, Flutes, Mellophones, Percussion, Saxophones, Sousaphones, Staff, Trombones, and Trumpets.

 

Family Payments

 

All Family Payments should now be paid in-full.

With Marching Band underway it is imperative that each family uphold their responsibility and make sure their Charms account is paid so that all students may enjoy the benefits of our first-class band.

To make a payment via PayPal log into Charms at www.charmsoffice.com.  Our school code is “lhsband”. 

Band payments may also be paid by check made payable to “LBA” (please note the student’s name) and mailed to:

If your student qualifies for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program please supply a copy of the Notice of Approval received from the Child Nutrition Office so that we may update your Charms account accordingly.  LBA must receive this notification each year.

“REMIND” System to Communicate Information

 

The Lafayette Band uses the “Remind” system to communicate important information to students and families.  The students have been encouraged to join the appropriate “remind” groups to receive updates, schedule changes, and reminders from the band directors.  Families are welcome to join.
