Medications for BOA in Johnson City

If your child needs to take prescription or over-the-counter medication that we do not already have physician’s signature for during the overnight trip, you will need to complete and turn in the FCPS “Medication Authorization Form” found here: https://www.fcps.net/cms/lib/KY01807169/Centricity/Domain/2295/meds_ok.pdf

On Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct 10 at student pick up, turn in the completed form along with the medication needed for the trip only in its original container to any chaperone at the blue building next to the practice field.

Please note that over-the-counter medications must be accompanied by a physician’s signature on the FCPS form noted above.  If a physician has already signed the LBA Medical Form then you do are not required to submit an additional form for OTC medications you initiated on the LBA Form.

If you have any questions you may contact Sherri McPherson (lafayettechaperone@gmail.com).

Uniform Reminders

RED BAGS – Students need to check their red bags carefully before leaving for BOA.  They need to remember to pack dry fit shirt(s), black shorts, black socks, black gloves and shoes.

SHOES – All students need to clean their shoes before BOA.  They can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

DEODORANT – Students need to use anti bacterial soap and wear deodorant.  It helps keep the uniforms clean especially during hot weather!

UNIFORMS/FOOD – Just a reminder to all students and parents:  Students are not allowed to eat food while in the uniforms at any time.

HAIR – Students need to be in slicked buns (no wispies).  No wispies or long hair can be on the collar of the shirt.  Students may need to make arrangements for a hair cut.

MISCELLANEOUS – No visible jewelry or nail polish is allowed in uniform.  Manicures and piercings may not be a good idea during marching season.

Snap Raise

(In place of cheese and sausage)

Here are the INSTRUCTIONS for creating/logging into your Snap! Raise account.  Please do not create another account if you already have one.

We are off to a great start!  We currently have more than $18,000!  We are well on our way to meeting our goal!!!  This is after only a little over a week of the site being active.  There have been many questions since we launched.  Here are my most frequent answers:

Can I donate in a check form instead of online?  I have relatives that want to donate but don’t have PayPal?  Yes, place the donation in the black box on the wall in the band room with your child’s name in the memo line or have them mail it to:

Lafayette Band Association
PO Box 910450
Lexington, KY 40591-0450

**Please make all checks out to LBA.  Checks donated like this WILL NOT go through the Snap! Raise system, so they will not be counted by Snap! Raise toward your child’s participation.  If your child gets 1 donation of $20 or more in the Snap! Raise system then they are counted as participating.   The higher participation our kids have with Snap! Raise, the more money we get to keep.  We keep 70% if our participation is below 70%.  If our participation is above 70%, then we will keep 77% of all donations.

-How do I opt out of this fundraiser?  If we opt out does it count against participation?  Easy- send in a check made out to LBA for our suggested donation amount of $75.  It can be placed in the black box in the band room with your child’s name in the memo line.  If you opt out, your child will get full credit for both the Week 1 and Week 2 incentives.  We will not count your child in the number of participants if you opt out, so they will not negatively impact our goal to get 77% of the proceeds back.  Please send in your check, or email me at lbafundraising1@gmail.com if you are planning to OPT OUT ASAP.  I have been asked for the OPT OUT numbers and need to turn them in this week.

-Can I still put in emails?  What if we don’t have all 20 emails? Yes, you can still enter emails into the system.   Every email counts.  Have your child do the best they can.  Click this link to get INSTRUCTIONS on how to add emails.

-What are the PRIZES for Snap! Raise:

WEEK 1:  After week one, the Section with the highest percentage of participation will receive the highly covetedTime in the Towerduring band rehearsal. The Section Prize will be awarded to the Section who has the most students who put in 20 or more valid emails. If paying the Opt-Out donation**, you will be credited for 100% participation.

WEEK 2:  After week two, if you qualify as an individual you can enjoy a popsicle while watching the other kids run during the running portion of warm-ups.  To qualify you need to have at least 3 donations OR choose to opt out OR raise more than $150 for Snap! Raise.  If you qualify, you will get to rest comfortably by the blue building as the rest of the band or Colorguard run during warm-ups at a specified practice.  For Pit members, we will make sure that this is a day that Pit is running during warm ups.

WEEK 3:  We are working on adding an incentive for the Section or top 2 Sections with the highest total dollar amount donated.  We are accepting ideas for this incentive idea.  Please email lbafundraising1@gmail.com with any ideas.

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES: The top dollar amount recipient will receive $50 cash, 2nd place will receive  $25 cash, and 3rd place will receive $15 cash.

-What exactly IS Snap!Raise?

Snap! Raise  is the nation’s leading fundraising platform for groups, clubs and teams. For the past five years, Snap! Raise has helped more than 35,000 groups in the U.S. raise more than $400M in funding!

Email LBAfundraising1@gmail.com or contact Jennie Hayes (859-229-9376) with any other questions.

Thank you for all of your continued support of Lafayette Band!  We could not do it without each of you!

Photo Buttons

For new band parents, you may have seen photo buttons being worn on lanyards. It’s a great way to support your band student and LBA. Lanyards are on sale at the Band Store.

Each 3.5-inch Photo Button is $8. You can choose your photo from the online Lafayette Band pictures at www.shellshots.smugmug.com. Choose ‘Lafayette’ from the navigation bar, and the password is Refuge. You CANNOT order your button on the Shellshots site, you are simply choosing which photos you would like.

*Please be aware that full body shots do not usually do well with the buttons.  It is better to choose a close up shot or crop the full body picture.
