Giving Back-Eastern Ky

The Lafayette Band is organizing a project and we need YOUR help! Our kids have so much and we are excited about the opportunity to give back to our neighbors in Eastern Kentucky. We have a surplus of hat boxes that we would like to fill with candy and notes of encouragement for schools and band students who lost things in the flooding. We ask that families send donations in on Monday, students will write notes before and after rehearsal, and we will stuff the boxes on Tuesday at 5:15 prior to rehearsal.

Bring your donations of candy to practice Monday. We need candy that DOES NOT MELT. Many schools have no electricity and cannot keep chocolate from melting.

Thank you!

Corporate Sponsorships Needed

Lafayette Band needs to raise an additional $15,000 in sponsorships from community businesses and individuals.  Our immediate need is sponsoring the Invitational! If you have a contact or know of anyone that may be interested in donating to the outstanding program, please email contact information to lbasponsor@gmail.com.

Lafayette Invitational Contest

The 2022 Invitational is being held on Sept. 17th.  We will be hosting this contest and many bands will be in attendance.  This is a great fundraiser for the band but we will need volunteers for the day to be a success!  The planning committee is working hard to set up all of the logistics.  Be on the lookout for sign-ups in the near future.

The Lafayette Band Webpage is already updated with some of the details.  That day, we will have a program for all attendees and you can feature your student or your business in the program!  Students love this!

Below are the links if you would like to take out an ad!  You can also find the links on the main web page. Due dates for forms and payments are listed at the bottom of the forms.

Treasurer’s Note

Whether you are new to the marching band experience or have been with Lafayette for a season or more, I hope that the magnitude of grassroots support it takes for this program to attain its highest goals and aspirations is evident. As mentioned before, LBA is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on the collective generosity of our student families to not only exist, but to thrive.

Many of you have already stepped up your game to join one of our crews, or help out at Bingo on Thursday nights, which is awesome! Even more help is needed as we gear up for competitions and travel to Indy .. so if you’re someone who is not yet involved in one of our many volunteer opportunities, now’s a perfect time to jump in, get up to speed with other first-timers and create some new friendships for the exciting season ahead.

I’m a firm believer that healthy crews translate into a healthy LBA, financially-speaking. Why? Because once you get involved with what goes into the finished product on the field (not to mention the life transformation in each student), the investment value is clear.

22-23 Band Contributions Goal: $190,000

Amount received thru August 6: $92,100 (48%)

Please consider what it means for your family to be fully engaged and invested – it takes the entire LBA Family thinking this way in order to bring out the best in the “Pride of the Bluegrass”!

Food Crew News

Cookie Donations Still Needed

For each meal that we serve our kids, we provide desserts for the kids in the form of homemade and store-bought cookies. We need 5,500 cookies just to get through band camp! We gratefully accept homemade or store-bought cookies, brownies, and Rice Krispie treats.  No nuts or peanut butter! Gluten free cookies are also needed. This week, cookies can be dropped off on my porch at 506 Reed Lane (just across the street from the school). Thank y’all so much!

Thank you!
