BAND MEMBERS — It is very important to check and double-check the items in your Red Bag prior to every performance! Make certain all required items are present and clean.

Parents and Students — Carefully review these instructions:

  • Bring money for gloves if needed – $8.00
  • Clean and polish shoes.
  • Have your band camp shirt to wear under your uniform.
  • Wear long black socks – plain, no stripes!
  • Bring black shorts to wear under your uniform.
  • If there is a problem with your uniform, see a member of the uniform team.
  • You will need a small towel, extra socks, and an extra black shirt.  The forecast is wet and cold.  Be prepared to layer-up.

Hair should not touch the collar when dressed in uniform, therefore, students with longer hair should bring items to secure their hair in a ponytail or purchase a wig cap.

Have class – YOU are the “PRIDE OF THE BLUEGRASS”! Always support other performing groups! Refuse to say anything negative, no matter what might be said to you.

State Championship Week Events

FINAL RUN-THROUGH WITH ENCOURAGEMENT SIGNS ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27
All parents, families, and friends are invited to the Final Run-Through on Friday, October 27 at 6:00. An annual tradition, we will line the perimeter of the Practice Lot during the final run-through holding signs and posters of encouragement–make them as fancy or simple as you like! Let’s show the students how proud we are of all they have accomplished this year!

PRAYER AROUND THE FLAG POLE
The annual Prayer-Around-the-Flag-Pole will be on Friday, October 27 at 5:30pm.  Parents and family members are invited to pray for each band member, staff, section, and circumstance.  We will meet rain, snow, or shine and will finish in time to watch the final run at practice.  This activity is not sanctioned by the LBA and is optional.

Food Crew Update for State

We will be feeding the kids several times on State day. If you are available, contact Jane or Jim DeRossett fullpantry@hotmail.com

Lunch To-Go TBD

Dinner Grill-out!  Burgers, pasta salad, chips, fruit, surprise dessert, drinks

We will be serving snacks throughout the day as well.

Medications for State

If your child needs to take prescription or over-the-counter medication that we do not already have physician’s signature for Saturday, you will need to complete and turn in the FCPS “Physician Order and Parent/Guardian Authorization Administration Form” found under the Downloadable Forms section of the Lafayette Website (www.lafayetteband.org).

On Saturday morning, turn in the completed form along with the medication needed for that day only in its original container to any chaperone at the blue building next to the practice field.

Please note that over-the-counter medications must be accompanied by a physician’s signature on the FCPS form noted above.  If a physician has already signed the LBA Medical Form, then you do are not required to submit an additional form for OTC medications you initiated on the LBA Form.

If you have any questions you may contact Mike Booth (mikeboothgm@gmail.com) or Merrille Stevens merrillestevens@gmail.com
