Fundraising for 2010-11

Searching and Shopping? Earn money for the band by searching and shopping online at GoodSearch or GoodShop. GoodShop, an online shopping mall of over 100 of your favorite merchants dedicated to helping fund worthy causes across the country. Each purchase made via the GoodShop mall results in a donation to the Lafayette Band Association averaging approximately 3% of the sale, but going up to 20% or even more. Just enter "Lafayette Band Association" to credit LBA
Restaurant Fundraisers
Throughout the year, restaurants in the Lafayette community host "restaurant nights" that allow LBA families to enjoy a meal, while we support the band! LBA receives a percentage of all purchases made during these special events. Watch for announcements in weekly e-news, on the Lafayette Band web site, and in our monthly newsletter.

For the Lafayette Band AND Band Families
Since April 1996, the Lafayette Band Association has contracted with the Bluegrass Bingo Center in Clays Mill Center, 3340 Holwyn Rd, for our weekly, year-round, BINGO operation. Profits from BINGO go into the association's general fund. This is a major time and energy commitment on the part of the association and the profits have made the effort very worthwhile. If you are interested in volunteering for Lafayette Band Bingo on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, contact our Bingo Chairperson - Darryl Duncan at 277-1435 or darryl.duncan@insightbb.com
Lafayette Band Discount Card Fundraiser--July/August
Cheese and Sausage Fundraiser--August/September
As one of the oldest and most successful fundraisers of the Lafayette Band, each year in August and September, the band members sell quality Wisconsin Real Cheese, Summer Sausage varieties and gift packs. Adding to the success of this fundraiser, the Band also has available high-end wrapping papers and premium candles. This fundraiser provides a wonderful opportunity to prepare for upcoming holidays, while supporting the Lafayette Band.
Amazon Gift Wrapping -- November/December
Amazon recruits volunteers for ‘Gift Wrap Your Holidays with a Smile’ and LBA has been participating for several years. Starting in late fall, volunteers are allowed to sign up for 4-hour shifts of their choice, with shifts starting after Thanksgiving and ending the week before Christmas. Volunteering consists of going to the Amazon warehouse in Lexington and wrapping gifts during your chosen shift(s). Volunteers are trained prior to wrapping, and Amazon will come to LHS to provide training in advance of the wrapping season. Depending on the time in the season (Amazon pays more per package as it gets closer to Christmas) and the number of packages you wrap, it is entirely possible for a single LBA volunteer to get a $150 contribution for Lafayette Band in one 4-hour shift. If you are able to sign up for more than one shift, you will find you get quicker at wrapping the more gifts you wrap. Last year, several parents signed up for the same shifts to enjoy some camaraderie while wrapping.
Ever popular with business owners and families alike, the Lafayette Band sells a wide variety of fresh citrus fruit, country hams, apples, pears, baking nuts and decorative fruit gift boxes. Orders for the citrus fundraiser are taken in November with delivery in early December in time for the Holidays, corporate gift giving and family enjoyment.
You can place your order at 559-0333 (local call) and arrangements will be made for taking your order and for the delivery of your fruit.
Orders of large quantities of fruit for corporate gifts are welcomed by the Lafayette Band and special arrangements for delivery to business locations can be easily arranged. Please contact the Band Fundraising Coordinators.
As the final fundraiser of the Lafayette Band year, the citrus fundraiser crowns a highly successful marching season with a high note.
Mulch Fundraiser - February/April
Our newest fundraiser, the Lafayette Band offers landscape quality bagged mulch. In 2010 we offered 2 types of mulch: premium cypress mulch and black platinum hardwood mulch. Both come in 2 cubic feet bags.
Premium Cypress Mulch - the most popular type of cypress mulch, it has a reddish tan color with a woody appearance that is also resistant to decay and repels insects. Black Platinum Hardwood Mulch - our best hardwood mulch, it has a fine texture and is aged to a black color. It is 100% pure hardwood bark mulch ( no shredded pallets or yard waste). Our customers' favorite!
Informational flyers are distributed throughout the Lafayette area in February and orders are taken through March. Best of all, with a minimum order of 6 bags, the mulch is delivered, free, DIRECT TO YOUR DOOR in April, just in time for spring planting! To see mulch delivery streets, click here.
By purchasing a Kroger gift card through the Lafayette Band, you will earn money for the band AND your student without spending any extra money or selling a thing. Simply follow the steps below and begin to see the benefits add up!
- Recharge your card at the Kroger service desk, for any amount, with cash, check or credit card (at least five minutes before you buy groceries.) Or, just before the checkout clerk begins to scan your groceries, recharge up to $100 as a separate transaction.
- Buy any items at any Kroger store in the US. Services such as money orders, lottery tickets, TicketMaster and stamps are excluded.
- Buy gas using your gift card locally at Beaumont Center, Regency Center, Bryan Station or any Kroger gas station in the U.S.
- Keep track of your current balance by checking the bottom of each receipt or by calling the 1-800 number on the back of the card.
- LBA earns 4% of all your recharges to support the band
- REMEMBER to keep recharging your cards!! It only helps if you continue to use them!
EARN $$$ FOR THE LAFAYETTE BAND THROUGH ADVERTISING SALES IN THE LAFAYETTE FOOTBALL PROGRAM
In May of each year, we kickoff one of the key fundraisers for the Pride of the Bluegrass -- the sale of advertisements for the LHS football program. Previous advertisers include local businesses, restaurants, physicians, dental and legal practices, churches, political campaigns, financial institutions, and just about any thing else you can imagine! Every ad sold provides financial assistance to the band.
The Football Program Committee will distribute information on this fundraiser via the Band's newsletter, mass email, and LBA Parent Meetings. P.S. The band also profits from the sale of the football programs at Lafayette home games!
