Marching Band - Uniform /Accessory Care

Uniform /Accessory Care

PARENTS - PLEASE REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR STUDENT

BAND MEMBERS - Students are issued two uniforms, which will be kept as school. The Traditional or "OLD" uniform will be worn to perform at football games, parades, and during concert season. The Competition or "NEW" uniform will be worn to perform at competitions. Students will have a unique number assigned to them. This number will be displayed inside both uniforms as well as on their traditional uniform red accessory bag.

The red bag will contain traditional uniform accessories to be kept at home. The contents of the bag are as follows:
  • One red ascot
  • One citation cord
  • One pair of suspenders
  • One cross belt
  • Two brass buckle pieces
  • One brass plate
Students are responsible for cleaning and polishing all items in the red bag. The accessories will be needed for all football games and parades; therefore, students must bring the red bag when dressing for these occasions. Students must also bring clean marching shoes to all performances (games, parades, and competitions).

Students will not be required to keep accessories at home for the "new" or competition uniform. All accessory pieces for the "new" uniforms will be kept at school. Students must only bring clean marching shoes to all competitions.

All students must be wearing a band t-shirt, lightweight white shorts, and clean white socks when they arrive to dress in uniform. These items must be worn under both uniforms, as restrooms are not available for changing clothes. All students dress together.

Parents and Students - Carefully review these instructions, along with the information that follows regarding Student / Parent Responsibility for Uniforms and Uniform Accessory Cleaning instructions:
  • Place your name, first initial and last name, inside both marching shoes with permanent marker.
  • Wash your ascot after every performance.
  • Wash cross belt and gloves as needed. If the cross belt starts to fray, please do not cut the strings. Inform a member of the Uniform Team prior to dressing for the next performance.
  • Bring money for gloves to each performance if needed. Gloves will be available for purchase prior to all performances. Prices range from $4.00 - $6.00.
  • Wear long white socks - plain, no stripes. It is good to keep and extra pair in your red bag.
  • Make sure your suspenders are fastening correctly. If not, please see a member of the Uniform Team for assistance.
  • Always check the numbers in your uniforms and all items in your red bag. When dressing, items are placed on the floor and can easily get mixed up with other students.
  • Do not store cleaning supplies or food in your red bag as any spill or leak may ruin other uniform accessory pieces.
  • Shoes may be kept in the red bag; however, they should be kept inside a plastic bag to avoid soiling other uniform accessory pieces.
If your uniform is in need of any repair, please inform a member of the Uniform Team or contact Cindy Blanton at 224-8526 or cmblanton@insightbb.com
